Methodology & Purpose
Accountability Tracker is a public-interest database documenting the intersection of systemic misconduct and political power within American religious institutions.
Project Scope
The database focuses on verified misconduct records involving religious figures with documented political-network connections. It is designed as a structured research resource for journalists, researchers, and the public.
Sourcing Standards
Profiles must be supported by legal documentation, institutional records, or corroborated investigative reporting from established news organizations. Unsubstantiated rumors and unverified social-media claims are excluded.
Status Classifications
- Convicted: found guilty in a court of law.
- Accused: credible, documented allegations without a conviction or settlement.
- Settled: civil claims resolved outside court.
- Investigated: subject of a formal law-enforcement or institutional investigation.
